The Military OneSource interactive Web site includes locators for education, child and elder care, online articles, access to free educational books and CDs, referrals to military and community resources, financial calculators, live online workshops called Webinars, an option to “Email a consultant” and much more.

Military OneSource is provided by the Department of Defense at no cost to active duty, Guard and Reserve (regardless of activation status) and their families. It is a virtual extension of installation services.  Click on the link to be directed to their web page or call 1-800-342-9647.

Provided by Commander, Navy Installations Command.  The Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) provides unified, customer-focused, consistent, and efficient FFSP programs and services to support sustained mission and Navy readiness. We provide the right services at the right time, to strengthen personal and family competencies to meet the unique challenges of the military lifestyle.

Need to obtain a MILITARY ID CARD?  Use this link (Rapids Site Locator) to find a military facility in your area.  Look up by City, State, Zipcode or Facility Name.  You might want to call the facility in your area to verify times, or days, that they are available to issue cards.

USO

The USO's mission is to support service members and their families with a wide range of services.  Many airports have a USO lounge provided FREE OF CHARGE to military members and their families (must present military ID) .  Services include a lounge with TV, couches, complimentary snacks and beverages, phone lines, Cyber Cafe's, and more (services vary at all airports).  Considering using this free service during travel.

Navy Knowledge Online

Navy Knowledge Online is a wonderful educational resource available to service members, spouses and children.  Anyone enrolled in DEERS is eligible. In addition to valuable information about the military and programs offered, there are literally thousands of online courses at your fingertips through Navy E-Learning.

Sesame Street Workshop - When Parents are Deployed

"Talk, Listen, Connect: Helping Families During Military Deployment" -  The producers of Sesame Street, along with funding from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, have responded with a television special geared to address the challenges military families face with deployment.  This video, hosted by Cuba Gooding, Jr. captures the extraordinary courage and touching vulnerability of both parents and children.  Watch online or download from the website.  Click on "Get More Info" to connect to a child's version of the video and to request your FREE kit complete with child's DVD, a parent/caregiver magazine and poster.
